This project is all about marking the 50th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence. We have set out to tell the Nigerian story of the past 50 years through Media (Conventional, New and Social). The spark that became this idea was ignited by the TED talks presentation given by Chimamanda Adichie on the Dangers of a single story. We encourage you to watch the video via the player on the right to see that talk if you haven’t already done so.
There are many facets to the Nigerian people but we have at this time chosen to tell our story from 3 powerful perspectives namely: The Arts, Fashion and Food. We will seek to involve everyone: Nigerians at home and in diaspora and our friends and admirers all over the globe.
We invite you come on this journey with us where we will be sharing the rich heritage bequeathed to us by our exotic culture and our remarkable history. Our celebrations is also about leaving a legacy and as such, in the coming days and weeks we will be bringing you art exhibitions, fashion runway shows and culinary competitions. We encourage you to engage with these events in whichever manner you are most comfortable: participant, partner or even as a punter.
In addition to the fun and celebrations we will be reflecting on the past 50 years and seeking to find from you what have been your most remarkable and defining moments. We will also be broaching the issue of what you expect from the next 50 years.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts!
